Porcelain chairs & band photos

Last night I dreamt I was decorating a restaurant/boutique. The walls were painted in suede-like jewel tones of ruby, lapis, emerald and citrine. I was using a Swiffer cloth to sand chairs made of porcelain, and preparing photos of hair metal rock bands to be hung on the wall. I pointed to one of the mid-1980s band Cinderella and told the other people in the room that I had a little crush on the lead singer a long time ago but now I'm indifferent to him.

Flapjacks and Pancakes

Last night I dreamt that I was living in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. I was getting ready for my cousin's wedding, where they were serving flapjacks. Before I left, I made pancakes for my kids. We had a big discussion about how flapjacks and pancakes are just different names for the same thing.

Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" was still playing in my head when I woke up.

Naked crochet

Last night I dreamt I was crocheting in my room. It was a beautiful day outside and suddenly I was overcome with the desire to crochet outside in the nude. I kept trying to find a place in the yard that was private enough that I could ... but I couldn't.

Supervillain

Last night I dreamt of a supervillain who tortured people to death. A man was brought before him whose eyelids and had been ripped off and his eyes sewn shut and his lips ripped off and his mouth sewn shut. The supervillain sewed his nose shut just to watch him suffocate. The supervillain had to kill certain people by a certain time in order to live. My husband fought him and hogtied him. When the clock struck, the supervillain's tongue began to swell until he choked on it.

Save the drowning baby

Last night I dreamt I was sitting on the deck of a house (my house?) on the river. I looked upstream and saw a family enjoying a picnic in their backyard. As I watched, a baby crawled to edge of the river and fell in. Its family gathered around and watched, but did nothing to save it. I jumped in the river and made it upstream and grabbed the baby, gasping for breath but alive. The family got mad at me for saving the baby. The father of the family grabbed the baby from my arms and threw it back into the river, telling me that it is supposed to look like an accident and that the baby was supposed to drown. Again, I saved the baby, but this time I ran with it. As I ran, I screamed for other neighbors to call the police. I ran through neighbors houses, trying to escape the angry father who wanted to drown this little baby, closing doors behind me. Some of these houses were so full of clutter and garbage and mess that it made for a difficult escape. The man chasing me was yelling, "kidnapper! Stop her! She has my baby!" I kept trying to explain as I ran, that he was trying to kill the baby and that somebody has to stop him.
As the dream continued, the song "Amari Szi Amari" by Csokolom was playing in the background.

Mushroom stilts, bicycles & Auto Dropouts

Last night I dreamt of a city of houses built on stilts of mushroom spores, of riding bicycles along tightrope wires, and recording songs with Jesper of The Auto Dropouts.

Tower

Last night I dreamt of the Tower, an actualization of the Tarot card. My children and their friends were playing on the top of the tower, not knowing that it was about to collapse in firey destruction.

Swiss Gypsy and Firewater

Last night I dreamt that my husband and I had traveled to Switzerland to research his ancestry. There we confirmed that he is, indeed, gypsy.

Next we were at an industrial strip mall in what felt like Mexico. There was a storefront with a sign over the door that read, "Firewater." We saw a man who looked like Tod A (of the band Firewater) walk through the door. Assuming it was a bar that he owned, we followed him inside. There was a bench that went all around the perimeter of the room inside, and rows of wooden chairs and pews facing a sort of low stage. Firewater's "The Song That Saved My Life" was being played on stage (and ran throughout the dream, following me into my waking time). As I looked around, I noticed this was a Hindu place of worship and the people were moving beautifully through a series of mudras. Although I was still an observer, I felt a sense of calm and smiled.

Plane, gym, storm

Last night I dreamt I was on a plane coming home from somewhere (Europe?). Johnny Depp and some other actors were sitting near the bathroom. The plane taxied to a nearby grocery store before taking off, allowing passengers the opportunity to get some snacks and stuff before the flight. I used the store's bathroom, then bought some snacks - banana, trail mix, honey - for the flight. My friend Heidi had a gooey cookie that was as delicious as it looked. I was trying to find one, too, but ran out of time before the plane was ready to go.

Then I was in a neighborhood gym - one of those that are county owned recreation centers - swimming and reading. My two youngest kids and their friends were playing and swimming, too. We were checking out the facilities and amenities before actually joining. I looked at the cost for membership - it was $600 per month for the family, but the membership was good at any county owned center. I was telling my husband about it when I noticed a very sick little boy hiding behind some equipment. It was time for his chemotherapy, but he didn't want it. It caused him a lot of pain. He wouldn't/couldn't talk. I got down on the floor with him and held him in my arms and sang to him while my husband administered the chemotherapy through an i.v. This all took place in an area on the other side of the garage from my house. A huge storm had blown in with very violent winds. My 2 youngest kids were asleep in the house, but I wanted to go check on them. When I opened the door to go over to the house, hurricane force winds blew in. The wind had destroyed the garage door. I managed to get the door shut and started crying to my husband about what I'd found. I was terrified - my kids were on the other side and I couldn't get to them! He assured me that everything would be alright, the kids were sleeping soundly and would be safe, and we'd call the garage repairman in the morning. Besides, a new garage door would improve our chances of selling the house. I went back to the sick little boy and held him some more - he was almost asleep and his i.v. was almost finished. I was hoping the storm would let up so I could get through the garage and to my kids in the house on the other side. I was really hoping that my husband was right and they were sleeping soundly through the storm.

Spice and No Blood to Spare

Last night I dreamt I was riding in the car with my husband. I was smoking spice (I don't smoke in the waking world). I put it out when we pulled into the garage. When I walked into the house, it was a dance studio. The band No Blood to Spare were sitting in a circle with the belly dancers that perform with them on occasion. I sat down and we started rehearsing and discussing songs.

McD, NYC, & London map

Last night I dreamt my two youngest kids and I were in a McDonald's in what felt like New York City. It was busy and hectic and we each had special order food. After the chaos of eating, we walked out into the night to find our car. I was trying to read a map of the London underground on my ipod without much success. Some police officers overheard me and left a folded up map of London on top of my car for me to find.

Laundry

Last night I dreamt of sorting special care laundry - particularly the hand wash from the dry clean only garments. Some of the dry clean only clothes had been hand washed and were hanging wet in the bathroom. I was concerned that I might not be able to save the garments that had been improperly cleaned.

Desert Highway

Last night I dreamt I had parked my car on the side of a desert highway. I had crossed the road and was walking towards the restaurant on the other side. The maitre d' met me en route and presented me with a covered dish. Then he was gone. I tasted the food - Chinese food - and it was awful. I started walking back to the restaurant to return it when a parade of vehicles drove slowly past. It was a convoy for a professional wrestler who looked like the actor Mickey Rourke in a WWI era pilot hat. The announcer in the first vehicle proclaimed, "This ... is ... HE MAN!" as he drove by. Several cars creeped past with the Mickey Rourke-ish character in the middle. He waved and smiled with pomp. I placed my hand on my heart and lowered my eyes respectfully, as if I were seeing a funeral procession, as they passed by. Once they had moved on, I set my plate of uneaten food on the ground, covered it with a linen table cloth and crossed the road back to my car.

Denver double date

Last night I dreamt I was riding in a car with my husband. I leaned forward and told him he should take me out to dinner and a movie ... in Denver. Then my cousin was in the car with us. He thought it was a great idea, since he used to live there. So we agreed to double date (cousin and his wife, my husband and me) to Denver. Then we were off and driving. We stopped at a rest stop halfway there. We went into the bathrooms and found several family reunions and parties going on - long tables, lots of people, lots of food. I kept trying to tell everybody that food doesn't belong in the bathroom. Either nobody could hear me or nobody chose to listen. Finally we were at the hotel for the night, but it kept changing between being a really nice hotel and being a dirty questionable roadside motel.

My house

Last night I dreamt of my house, only it was bigger and nicer. I was busily and happily cleaning and redecorating it until it glowed with a golden light. It felt new.

Unable to communicate

Last night I dreamt I was attending a theatrical production. It wasn't a very good show, but I wanted to support my friends who were in it. I was trying to text and email them good luck wishes for their performances, but the emails and texts wouldn't go through. They came to me during the show and told me that they, too, had tried to email and text but it wouldn't go through for them, either.

Wedding paper towels

Last night I dreamt that we were getting married in the local church on the corner. The ceremony took place in the women's meeting room. An older man kept going around introducing himself as my father-in-law's best man. After the ceremony, we went into the church's recreational hall/gymnasium for the reception. When we walked in, we noticed there were no plates, no cups, no napkins, etc. People were drinking tap water in mismatched glasses from the kitchen and eating stale white cake on brown paper toweling.

Europe Carnival Booth & Death Debate

Last night I dreamt we went to Europe, but it was a series of carnival booths. Standing in line for food, we were discussing the art we'd seen. My husband held that Death (part of The Last Judgement) was it's own thing while I argued that it was part of a bigger picture.
