House

Last night I dreamt of walking through a large house with the intent of possibly buying it. The exterior of the house was very unassuming in a very modest neighborhood but when you walked it changed to something else entirely. It was a 3 level house with about 3000-sq ft per floor. It had a large entry way that opened into a great room with a large free standing fireplace that could be enjoyed from all sides. This room in turn opened into a large family room, dining area and huge gourmet kitchen - professional refrigerator, double gas stove/oven and three side-by-side dishwashers - with lots of counters and cupboards. There were 5 bedrooms on this level, too, as well a jetted tub. (I don't remember seeing bathrooms. Odd.) The carpet throughout was a dark coffee brown. The upstairs level was still under construction, but the carpet was laid and rooms were framed and walled in. Up there was to be a library, office, and 6 more bedrooms. The basement was unfinished, but could include rehearsal space and a recording studio as well as another family room, storage, and a skating rink. The people selling the house were asking $40,000 below list price, which put the house at $250,000.
I showed the house to my parents. They were polite, but not impressed and gave the impression they'd speak deprecatingly of it when they were not with me.
